Bertha Lou Gibbs, age 73 of Riverside, Ohio, passed away Friday, February 5, 2021 at Soin Medical Center, Beavercreek, Ohio. She was born October 6, 1947 in Frankfurt, Kentucky.
Bert was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She was the most unselfish person you'd ever meet and always put others before herself. She was willing to do anything for anyone and never said a bad word about anyone. She was a member of the Wells Union Church in Kentucky and attended the Valley Street Free United Baptist Church in Dayton. Bert was an avid gardener and enjoyed canning and reading. She will be dearly missed by all who loved her.
Bert is preceded in death by her father, Robert "Cotton" Allen; mother, Beulah Holbrook; and son-in-law, Tony Martin.
Bert will be missed by her loving husband of 56 years, Doil; daughters, Angela Martin and Janice (Thomas) McKenzie; son, David Alan (Amber) Gibbs; grandchildren, Tomi McKenzie, Samantha McKenzie, David McKenzie, Halie McKenzie, Hope Martin and Laia Martin; sisters, Olive McKinney, Loretta Allen and Elizabeth "Liz" Allen; and many nieces and nephews.
Family will receive friends Saturday, February 13, 2021 from 2 p.m. until the time of the funeral service at 4 p.m. at Newcomer North Chapel, Dayton, Ohio. The graveside service HAS BEEN RESCHEDULED for 2 p.m. Saturday, February 14, 2021 at the Grassy Lick Cemetery in Grassy Creek, Kentucky. The state of Ohio is under a mandatory mask order and has required that face masks be worn in all public places.
