Shubert, Bert U., 87, "Pops" , born 3/29/1925 in Madisonville,TN, passed away Wednesday, February 6, 2013.
He was a resident of Dayton, Ohio since 1947 and was retired from Delco Moraine after 35 years of service. Bert was an Army Veteran of WWII, contributing to the war effort by working on the atomic bomb in Oakridge, TN, afterwards being deployed to Germany.
He was the Co-owner of the Red Carpet Tavern , and was preceded in death by his parents Martha Schubert and Clabe Arp, his wife, Catherine Z. Shubert, brother, Wade Schubert, and sister, Susie O'Neil. He is survived by 2 sons, Bert W.(Connie) Shubert of Port Charlotte, FL, and Michael W. Shubert of Dayton; grandchildren, Stephanie Shubert and Eric Robinson; great grandchildren, Isabella and Maya; sister, Mary Bryant of Miamisburg; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held from 1:00 until 2:00 on Saturday, February 9, 2013 at Newcomer Funeral Home 3380 Dayton-Xenia Rd. where a funeral service will be held at 2:00. Burial, with Military Honors, will follow at Woodland Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of Dayton in Bert's memory.
