Bert R. Travis

Bert R. Travis, age 83, of Springfield, passed away July 19, 2022. He was born January 12, 1939 in Louisa, KY to the late Roy and Mildred Travis. In addition to his parents, Bert was preceded in death by his brothers and sisters: Ginny Simms, Bob Travis, Bill Travis, Danny Travis, Loren Travis, Debbie Travis, Karen Travis, Gwendolyn Travis and Freddie Travis.

Bert is survived by his wife of 61 years, Fran Travis; children: Millie Roberson (James), Barbara Banister (Al), Richard Travis (Tina) and Mary Morris (Robert); 12 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; brothers and sisters: Minnie Pack, Nancy Pack, Junior Travis, Don Travis, Lola Farmer, Patty George, Margie Lewis, Teresa Watkins, Dorothy Taylor and Rose Henestofel; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Bert worked for and retired from Ohio Auto Kolor. He was a member of Valley Street Pentecostal Holiness Church, where he enjoyed playing the guitar, the banjo and singing. He loved gardening and making jelly and apple butter. Bert was a wonderful man with a great sense of humor. He was always helping and caring for others. More than anything, Bert loved his family.

Visitation will be held from 11:00 am - 1:00 pm on Monday, July 25, 2022 at Valley Street Pentecostal Holiness Church, 2605 Valley Pike, Dayton, where the funeral service will begin at 1:00 pm. Burial will follow at New Carlisle Cemetery. Arrangements entrusted to Newcomer Funeral Home, North Chapel, 4104 Needmore Road.
