Bernie H. Godsey, Sr., age 85 of Riverside, reunited with the love of his life, his beloved wife, Anna "Bug" Godsey, on September 23, 2022. He was born April 13, 1937 in Knott County, KY to the late James H. and Odessa (Everage) Godsey. In addition to his wife and parents, Bernie was preceded in death by his daughter, Tammy Rohr; son-n-law, Gene Ragan; siblings, Elvira Roberts, Virginia Ball, Glenna Carson, Jimmydean Browning, Larry Godsey and Molly Godsey.
He is survived by his children, James "Skeeter" (Sharon) Godsey, Sr., Kathy (Randy) Stultz, Penny Ragan and Bernie "Junior" Godsey; grandchildren, Hope, Faith, James Jr., Brian, Kristin, Wendy, Ashley, Timothy, Sharon and Jeri; great-grandchildren, Ryan, Casey, Kayla, Kaitlyn, Alyssa, Matthew, Larry, Hannah, Alana, Austin, Brycen, Michael, Conner, Mary Jane, Mason, Nevaeh, Corey and Harper; great great-grandchildren, Josh, Conner, Emma, Austin, Adellah, Sophia and Weston; siblings, Silas Godsey, Linda Ritchie and Gary Lee Godsey; numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and dear friends.
Bernie worked at Blue Diamond coal mines in Hazard, KY in his younger years. He moved to Dayton where he was employed at Dayton Tire & Rubber for numerous years. Bernie enjoyed gardening and taking care of his flowers (everyone knew not to get to close to them). He was well known for his amazing story telling and drawing little monkeys on the kids hands. Every Easter he would make sure he had to have a watermelon egg.
Family will receive guests from 9:30-10:30 AM on Monday, October 3, 2022 at Newcomer North Chapel (4104 Needmore Rd. Dayton, OH 45424) where a funeral service will begin at 10:30 AM. He will be laid to rest following the service next to Bug at Willow View Cemetery, Dayton.
