Bernice Margaret Midlam, age 88, of Springboro, Ohio, passed away on January 7, 2025. She was born in Dayton, Ohio on April 2, 1936 to the late Wendell and Marvel Cowan.
Bernice graduated from Wilbur Wright High School and studied literature and history at Wright State University. She enjoyed a long career, retiring as a buyer from Machine Products Corporation. Bernice then volunteered with various organizations and was a proud member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and Colonial Dames.
Bernice is preceded in death by her parents; her brother, James Cowan; and son-in-law, Bart Frye. She is survived by her brother, Raymond Cowan; daughters and sons-in-law, Lynn Frye, Lesley (Dale) Walton, and Michelle (Matt) Smith; and her partner in life, James Midlam. One of Bernice’s biggest points of pride was her grandchildren: Nick Frye, Zach (Marie) Walton, and Evan Walton.
Bernice had a kind word and compliment for virtually everyone she met. She was also a music lover and gifted vocalist who enjoyed singing, especially as a Christmas Eve soloist at Triumphant Cross Church.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that remembrances be made in the form of donations to the hospice organization of your choice.
A memorial service will be held by the family at a later date.
