Bernarda Torres

Bernarda Torres, age 91, of Kettering, Ohio, passed away on March 10, 2022. She was born May 30, 1930 in Corozal, Belize to the late Cecilia Aldana and Prudencio Torres. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her son Carlos Alberto Torres; and sister Eusebia Rejon.

Bernarda is survived by her daughters Alba (Oscar) Santana and Virna (Christopher) Altick; son Julio (Patricia) Cesar Buonafina Torres; sister Concepcion Torres; grandchildren Julio, Juan Carlos, Estuardo, Ana Del Carmen, Silvia, Pablo, Gustavo, Wendy, Karen, Lisette, Drew, Collin, and Isabella; great grandchildren Miguel Angel, Elias, Alessandro, Annika, Andreina, Bruno, Joshua, Jade, Jazmin, Jaspe, and Fernandito; great great grandchildren Diana and Bianca; and numerous other nieces, nephews, and other family.

Bernarda worked diligently to receive her nursing degree in Guatemala while also providing for her children. She continued her career in healthcare when relocated to the United States until her retirement. After retirement, she focused her life on helping others by interpreting for them, and also being very active in her grandchildren's lives and sports activities. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the Schaefer family for all their love and support, and for being their extended family in the United States. The family would also like to extend a special thank you to the Jaquez-Rascon family, including Melva Rascon and Elizabeth Rascon, for their love and support.

Funeral services will be held at 4 PM on Saturday, March 26, 2022, at Newcomer Funeral Home, 3940 Kettering Blvd., Kettering, Ohio 45439, officiated by Roger Melendez. Visitation will be held at 3 PM on Saturday, March 26, until the time of service.
