Bernard F. Staley

Staley, Bernard F., age 84, of Miami Township, passed away on Friday, May 20, 2011. Bernie was a retired fire fighter with the City of Dayton for over 27 years, a United States Army Veteran proudly serving during WWII, and a member of the VFW, American Legion, Moose and Eagles.

Bernie is survived by his sons: Doug (Becky) Staley, Steve Staley; daughters and son-in-law: Denise McNicol (Bob Dyke), Val (Harold) Lewis; 4 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; daughter-in-law: Brenda Staley; dear friend: Lavern; and several step grandchildren, family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his wife: Valeria; parents: Clyde & Anna (Brun) Staley; and son: Michael Staley.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be said at 10:30 A.M. on Tuesday, May 24, 2011 at Ascension Church, 2025 Woodman Dr., Kettering. Interment will follow Mass at Valley View Memorial Gardens in Xenia. The family will receive friends on Monday, May 23, 2011 from 5:00 – 8:00 P.M. at Newcomer Funeral Home (South Chapel) 3940 Kettering Blvd., Kettering. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, envelopes will be provided.
