Berman R. "Buck" Meadows, a resident of Kettering, OH, passed away on June 16, 2018 from chronic lung disease. Buck is survived by his wife of 63 years, Carolyn Starr Meadows. He is also survived by his daughter, Rebecca Meadows Curti (Tom) and his four grandchildren, Michelle R. Curti of Charlotte, NC, Jamie E. Curti of Cincinnati, OH, Alexander T. Curti of Atlanta, GA, and Jacob C. Curti attending The Ohio State University in Columbus, OH. In addition to his parents, Buck was preceded in death by his son, Bradley R. Meadows.
Buck was born on February 12, 1930 in Elkins, WV to the late B.R. Meadows and Eva Wood Meadows. He was raised in Mingo, WV and graduated from Tygarts Valley High School in 1947. After working for his uncle in the area for a time, Buck enrolled in West Virginia University in the Aero Engineering Department in 1951. On October 22, 1955, Buck married Carolyn M. Starr of Valley Head, WV. After graduating, he was commissioned in the USAF as a 2nd lieutenant. Buck was called to active service in January 1956, stationed at Wright Patterson Air Force Base in Dayton, OH in the procurement and engineering of new aircraft design where he stayed on as a civilian after his duty was fulfilled.
Ever the entrepreneur, Buck took a break from his duties at the Base to be a partner in a successful sporting goods retail operation startup, which ultimately had stores in Dayton, Cincinnati and Cleveland. Buck eventually sold his shares to his partner to provide him with more time with family, and he returned to his former engineering position at the Base.
In 1988, Buck retired at the age of 58 to enjoy life and pursue personal interests. It wasn't long before his entrepreneurial spirit called him again, this time in the automobile wholesale business where he could mix business with pleasure, a professional hobby Buck enjoyed until his passing.
Buck had a passion for life, a keen lifelong interest in learning, and a knack for turning everyone he met into a friend with his warm, friendly spirit. He will be sorely missed by everyone who knew him.
Family will receive guests from 10:00 – 11:00 am Wednesday, June 20, 2018 at David's Cemetery – CHAPEL, Kettering. A service will follow at 11:00 am also at the chapel on Wednesday.
