Sweet, Benjamin Franklin "Sam", left us peacefully, to go home, on Sunday, March 19, 2017 after a long illness. He was 90 years old.
Ben was born in Hazard, KY on Feb. 26, 1927. He moved as a young man to Ohio to try and make a better life for his family. After trying a few different jobs, he settled at Rack Processing Co. He was a tip make and helped design prototypes for their plating racks.
He liked to hunt squirrels in the Fall and sponge mushrooms in the Spring. His favorite things were riding his bicycle, so he could keep up with his neighbors, and just sitting on his back porch on warm evenings. He always had a garden. We are going to miss his tomatoes and that back porch where we would talk and he would tell us old stories.
Ben was preceded in death by his parents, Benjamin H. & Tillie Jane (Jenkins) Sweet, his loving wife of 62 ½ years, Lucy, 5 brothers, 4 sisters, infant son, Donny and grandson, T.J. Manson.
He leaves behind 3 daughters, Linda (Dave) Swartz, Beverly (Terry) Manson, Rhonda Bolin; 5 grandkids, Lisa Swartz Theado, David Swartz, Ben, Justin (Tara) Bolin, Timothy Manson; 3 great-grandkids, Katie Theado, Ava & Luke Bolin. He had many more nieces and nephews, his friend and companion for the last 7 years, Buddy, his dog.
He had a beautiful smile and bright blue eyes that we are going to miss from this wonderful man who was our father. Rest in peace Daddy, we love you always.
Visitation will be held from 12:00pm until 2:00pm Friday, March 24, 2017 at Newcomer Funeral Home 3940 Kettering Blvd. A private graveside service will be held for the family at Evergreen Cemetery following the visitation.
