Benjamin Rader

April 19, 1936 — November 4, 2022

Benjamin E. Rader, 86, of Bellbrook, passed away peacefully on Friday, November 4, 2022, lovingly surrounded by his family. He was born April 19, 1936 in Dayton, Ohio to the late Lee and Vera (Wallace) Rader.

Ben was a 1954 graduate of Fairmont West High School where he played football, and then proudly served his country in the United States Army.

After 11-years as an outside installer at Ohio Bell, Ben began a +50-year career as a leading real estate broker in the Dayton area, with thousands of clients and colleagues that he considered friends, and was an Associate Partner at Coldwell Banker Commercial Heritage Realtors.

As the consummate handyman, Ben was always willing to help a friend, family-member or neighbor with a car repair, mowing a yard, shoveling a driveway, or painting a hallway.

Ben was very active in the Bellbrook Community, active in the Lions' Club, a member and past commander of the American Legion, an Elder in the Bellbrook Presbyterian Church, a member of the Bellbrook-Sugarcreek Chamber of Commerce, and member of the Brookview Swim Club.

Ben loved the natural world and never lost his sense of awe and wonder whenever he was outside. He loved to hunt, fish, ride motorcycles, and play golf whenever he had free time.

He was a devoted husband, loving father and grandfather, and Ben's favorite activity was always his family. He loved nothing more than being surrounded by his family and friends, laughing and enjoying good food and conversation. He loved playing games and whether it was cards, ping-pong, pool, croquet, chess, euchre, he was a tough competitor who always loved a good game.

Ben was always a helping hand to his children and grandchildren, doing what he could to help everyone find their way in life.

He leaves behind a loving family to cherish his memory, including his wife, Allene Circle-Rader; children, Stephen Rader of New Jersey, Vicki (Joe) Root of Kettering, Stephanie (Jim) Menker of Centerville; 5-grandchildren; 7-great grandchildren; a sister, Marge (Richard) Wilkins; many other extended family members and friends.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded by his late wife, Sharon Rader; and his sisters, Janet Taylor, Jean (Richard) Feicht, and Doris Trimble.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, November 10, 2022 from 5:00-7:00pm at Newcomer Centerville Chapel (820 Miamisburg-Centerville Rd., Dayton, Ohio 45459). Funeral service will be Friday, November 11, 2022 beginning at 11am. Burial will follow in Miami Valley Memorial Gardens, with military honors.
