Benedict Jarosz died peacefully on Sunday, November 13, 2016, in Dayton, Ohio, at the age of 82.
Ben is survived by his wife of 60 years, Carol, children Debbie Began (Bob Began), Sharon Jarosz (David Lauterbach), Patricia Jarosz, Jeff Jarosz (Cookie Jarosz), LuAnne Holzapfel (Tom Holzapfel), and Cara Mansell, ten grandchildren and five great grandchildren, siblings Fred Jarosz (Carol Jarosz), and John Jarosz (Kathy Jarosz). He is preceded in death by his parents, John and Josephine Jarosz, and brothers Chester (Marion), Albert (Marcie), and Danny (Alice) Jarosz.
Ben was born on May 9, 1934, in Cleveland, Ohio. He met Carol Coyle at the roller skating rink, and the couple married in 1956. Ben was a longtime proud employee of the Ohio Bell Telephone Company.
Ben will be best remembered as a jack-of-all-trades who was always willing to lend to a hand to a neighbor or friend. He loved to work with his hands and was passionate about gardening, building, and remodeling. He would often help out his children with their remodeling projects and taught them how to do the work as well. His work was top-notch, but he was very humble and would often joke that his work was "good enough for Bob's house."
Ben could often be found on the weekends at the flea market either selling or collecting merchandise to sell next weekend. He loved turning trash into treasure. A favorite memory of his children was receiving Christmas gifts from Flea Market Freddie, which were always creatively wrapped.
Ben will be remembered for his immeasurable work ethic, which was only outmatched by the size of his heart. He was an amazing man.
A Mass of Christian burial is scheduled for Friday, November 18 at 10:30 A.M. at St. Luke's Catholic Church in Beavercreek, Ohio. Visitation is 9:30 A.M. to 10:30 also at St. Luke's Catholic Church.
All are welcome to attend and celebrate Ben's life.
