Barbara Patricia Shroyer

August 27, 1924 — August 18, 2023

Barbara Patricia (Winter) Shroyer, of Loveland, Ohio, passes away peacefully on Friday, August 18, 2023 at the age of 98 at the Hospice of Blue Ash Patient Center.

Barbara was born on August 27, 1924 at Christ Hospital in Cincinnati, Ohio to the late Paul Mason Winter and Margaret G (Crites) Winter.
She lived most of her childhood in Hamilton, Ohio, but the family moved to Dayton, Ohio during her teenage years. She graduated from Fairview High School in 1944. She also attended Miami University.

She married her husband John "Gus" F Shroyer Jr on January 31, 1953 and raised 3 daughters together. Before her marriage, she worked as an inspector at NCR and at Aeroproducts. Later in life, she returned to the workplace working as a clerk at Montgomery County Juvenile Court and as a clerk/dispatcher for a gravel company.

She was preceded in death by her husband Gus of 37 years on December 5, 1990. She is survived by daughters: Barbara A Shroyer of Loveland, Ohio; Abby Shroyer of Clayton, Ohio; Son-in-Law Craig Smith of Old Town, Florida; 2 grandchildren: Taylor (Angie) Smith of Griffin, Georgia; Will (Emily) Mowry of Dayton, Ohio; and one great-grandson Bennett Smith. One daughter, Lynn Shroyer Smith departed in 2016 and her son Brandon Smith departed in 2017.

She was involved in the Camp Fire Girls with her daughters, being a group leader, of which many of her daughters' friends participated, and mentored them to become independent and resolute future women. She served as an officer in the Dayton Daughters of Revolution (DAR) and was actively involved in the group for many years. Her daughters have continued her legacy of researching the family genealogy.

Barbara will be remembered for her flashy style and jewelry, being the life of the party, and doting on her cats. She wanted to live to the 100th Year milestone, and almost made it, being the last of her generation of her family members.

A special thanks from the family to her nephews Robert Cook and Blake Getson with wife Linda Fedak, who provided support and love to Barbara on her last day. The family is so grateful to the care and love given by the wonderful Hospice of Blue Ash nursing staff.

According to her wishes, no funeral service is planned. Immediate family members will celebrate her life at a private gathering at a later date. Arrangements entrusted to the Newcomer Beavercreek Chapel Funeral and Cremation. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Aullwood Audubon Center and Farm, of which Barbara was a member.
