MACKE, Barbara S. (Thompson), 81, of Beavercreek, OH went to be with our Lord on May 16, 2015 due to a sudden illness. Barbara was born January 21, 1934. Her parents were Grace (Click) and Lon Thompson. Her childhood residence was Hancock County, Sneedville, TN.
She attended and went to Hancock High School graduating in May of 1954. On January 17, 1959 she married Joe Macke. She went to Richard Weston School of Cosmetology to be a hairstylist and then went on to work for the Greene Co. Welfare Dept. for 20 years. She retired on January 31, 1994.
She is survived by 2 children: son, Stephen Macke (Susan) of New York and daughter, Mary Ann (Macke) Gross (Mark) of Missouri. She has 7 grandchildren: Matthew and Maximilian Gross, Emily, Melody, and Lily Macke, Scott and Andrew Cousins, as well as 2 great-grandchildren, Peyton and Haley Cordova.
Family will receive friends from 1:30 - 2:30 pm on Thursday, May 21, 2015 with a service to follow at 2:30 pm at Newcomer Funeral Home, 3380 Dayton-Xenia Rd., Beavercreek.
