Barbara Lewis

Barbara Ellen Lewis, Feb. 18, 1934-Nov. 16, 2013.

"Her children rise up and call her happy...Many women have done excellently, but you surpass them all." Proverbs 31:28a; 29.

Barbara Ellen Lewis was called home to her God and Savior early on the morning of Nov. 16, after a short illness. She loved her family, her church & her God, & we rejoice in her return to her heavenly home even as we grieve her passing.

Born in Dayton, OH, Feb 18, 1934 to Fred and Mary Crider, Barbara married a U.S. Marine, Ralph Lewis, and traveled around the U.S. She was active in her church, Prince of Peace Church of the Brethren, Kettering, OH, where she was a member for over 10 years. She also worked in the Texas school system as high school cafeteria manager, where she took great pride in her work.

She is survived by her children, Michael (Linda) Lewis, Brian (Jackie) Lewis, Linda Lewis, & William (Natalie) Lewis, 5 grandchildren, Spencer & Conner Lewis, Brandon Lewis, Taylor (Hearn) & Blake Lewis, brother, Everett Crider, sister, Norma Brigeman, sister-in-law, Sandra Koontz, & many wonderful nieces, nephews, other relatives & loving friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Ralph, sister, Carol Jean Phillips, brothers Danny & Jerry Crider.

Visitation will be held at Newcomer Funeral Home South Chapel, Kettering, on Wed. Nov. 20, from 5 PM to 7 PM. Service will be held on Thurs. Nov. 21, at 9 AM at Prince of Peace Church of the Brethren, Kettering OH, Pastor Larry Tyner officiating.
