Barbara Jean (Conklin) Worthen went home to be with the Lord Monday, Aug. 8, 2011.
She was born on Feb. 8, 1934 to Harmon and Hazel (Stewart) Conklin.
She is survived by her devoted & loving husband of 53 years, Gene Worthen, her son Allen (Ellen) Worthen of Tipp City, daughter Paulette (Jim) Noxon, of Miamisburg, and her son Craig (Suzanne) Worthen of Auburn, IN. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Kristy (Patrick) Rhodes of Troy, Jason (Ashley) Worthen of Weston, Jared Worthen of Troy, Katie Worthen of Tipp City, Ben and Elizabeth Spivey of Miamisburg, Tori, Whitney and Cassaundra Worthen of Auburn, IN and her great-grandchildren, Lana & Alexa Rhodes and Baylen Worthen. She is survived by her sisters Juanita Bixler, Jeanette Cline, Marge Michael, and Doris Goddard and her brothers Dale, Elven, Lowell and Harold Conklin and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her grandson Aaron, her sister Mary and brothers Paul, Leon and Donald.
Barbara was a graduate of Moody Bible Institute, received her BS of education from Miami University, and her MS degree in business from Wright State University. She was a member of the Centerville Community Alliance Church, where she worked many years with the children's ministry.
The family will receive family and friends Thursday, August 11, 2011 from 5-8pm at Newcomer Funeral Home South Chapel (3940 Kettering Blvd, Kettering, OH 45439). Family and friends are also welcome to visit Friday, August 12, 2011 from 9:30am until the time of the service at 10:30am. Pastor Lowell Miller will be officiating. Burial will follow at Miami Valley Memory Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Hospice of Dayton in Barb's memory.
