Barbara C. Harris

Barbara Charlene Dewberry Harris, age 76, of Dayton, passed away August 15, 2020, at her residence. She was born in Dayton, Ohio, on September 6, 1943, the daughter of the late John and Fannie Mae Dewberry Sanford.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and her son, Josephus Perkins, Jr.

Barbara is survived by her devoted companion of 30 years, Mr. Howard Lee; her loving daughters, LaVerne Perkins, Cynthia Swope and Vicki Perkins; devoted grandchildren, Robert, Adrienne and Brittany Price, Jasmine Meadows, and Aaron & Ashlee Swope; 9 great grandchildren; 1 great great grandchild; Howard's son, Victor Lee, Howard's sister, Theresa Wallace, his grandson, Victor Couzens; and many other loving Dewberry family and dear friends.

She retired from Oak Creek Day Care. Barbara was a member of Valley Peace Missionary Baptist Church for many years. In her free time, she enjoyed thrifting, having cookouts with her family, participating with her church by serving others.

Visitation will be held on Friday, August 28, 2020, from 9:30am-10:30am, at Newcomer Funeral Home, 4104 Needmore Rd., Dayton, where services will begin at 10:30am. Burial will follow at West Memory Gardens.

Donations may be made in her honor to Valley Peace Missionary Baptist Church, 4201 W. Hillcrest Ave., Dayton, OH 45406, in helping the community.
