Barbara L. Hagler, age 82, of Dayton, Ohio, passed away on August 22, 2024. She was born to the late Samuel Haines and Rose Haines on February 10, 1942. Barbara L. Hagler was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, and devoted partner who will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Sylvester Hagler Sr., an Army veteran, and her son, Shawn Hagler. For the past 31 years, she shared her life with her devoted partner, Charles Harrell (Chuck), who stood by her side through thick and thin.
Barbara L. Hagler dedicated over 35 years to the nursing field, where she cared for countless individuals with compassion and professionalism. Her kindness, dedication, and love for her work left a lasting impact on those she served.
Barbara attended Roosevelt High School, where she built lifelong friendships and cherished memories.
She is survived by her beloved children: Sylvester Hagler Jr., Michael Hagler, Denise Smith, Curtis Hagler Sr., Andre Hagler, Tracy Hagler, and Stacey Hagler Simon (Kevin Simon). She was also a proud and loving grandmother to her grandchildren: Maya, Whitney Hagler (Kayla), Unjanee’ Wright, Charel Vinson (James Vinson), Chanel Keoni (Tomovi Keoni), Alexandria Hagler, Curtis Jr., Londyn, Dayon, Devin, Kashawnna Hagler, Adrienne, Kevin Hastings, Jawan Hagler, Jalen Hagler, Shawnteona Hagler, Shawnay Hagler, and Shawnna Hagler, and many other great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren and cousins.
She is also survived by her brother, Roger Haines, and her half-sister, Beverly Herring, along with many other cherished family members and friends.
Services to honor Barbara L. Hagler will be held at Newcomer Funeral Home, 4104 Needmore Rd., Dayton, Ohio 45424, on September 6, 2024, with a viewing from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m., and the service starts at 10:30 a.m. She will be laid to rest at Woodland Cemetery, reuniting with her husband and son.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Diabetes or Heart Association in her memory.
Barbara L. Hagler’s legacy of love, care, and strength will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
