Barbara E. Davis
March 25, 1937 — December 6, 2015
Barbara Ellen (Florkey) Davis, age 78, passed away Sunday, December 6, 2015. Born March 25, 1937 in Dayton, Ohio at Miami Valley Hospital. She was the daughter of Charles E. Florkey and Pauline V. Bauer. Barbara graduated from Dayton night School, class of 1969. She worked for Kroger in the Dayton area and also Gershow, which is now closed.
Barbara married Kenneth Wayne Davis on May 6, 1955. They divorced 23 years later but remained good friends until his death on April 1, 2006.
She was lucky enough to twice cruise the islands of the Caribbean Sea. Barbara was a Girl Scout Leader (Brownies) for 6 years and also cookie captain. She worked with the girl scouts twice during the 4th of July Parade. Barbara was a Homeroom Mother for 6 years for her children. Barbara traveled to Germany, Norway and Israel with Abiding Christ Lutheran Church.
She loved to bowl and did so in 3 different leagues. Her average was 140-150 but she bowled many 200 games and one 600 series.
Barbara drove a school bus for Fairborn school, transporting students of all grades, sports and even the band. She also drove for R.T.A., all routes and buses including Trolley and Diesel.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles E. Florkey and Pauline V. Bauer and brother Norman L. Sipe, Jr.
Barbara is survived by her brother Charles Florkey, her children Sheryl A. Clark, Kenneth W. Davis, Jr. and Ellen (Rick) Kincade; grandchildren, Dana Clark Jr., Lucas (Samantha) Davis and Jonathan "Jack" Kincade; great-granddaughter, Cora Rose; nieces Danielle Sipe, Julie and Gail Florkey; nephew Christopher Sipe and extended family. She is also survived by life-long friends, Pat (Tom) Stafford; Rita McKinney and her very good friends from Abiding Christ Lutheran Church.
Visitation will be held from 10:00 am until the funeral at 11:00 am on Thursday, December 10, 2015 at Abiding Christ Lutheran Church, 326 E Dayton Yellow Springs Rd, Fairborn, OH 45324. Officiating will be Pastor Craig Fourman and Sue Nelson.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to Abiding Christ Lutheran Church (FISH ministry).
