Barbara Anita Campbell

Barbara Anita Campbell, age 84, of Huber Heights, went home to be with the Lord on May 26, 2022. She was born on September 3, 1937 in Washington, D.C., to Leonard and Grace Gardner. She was a joy to her parents, always making them proud of her and sharing her accomplishments and enthusiasm for life with them.
Barbara was an avid reader and proficient crossword player. She enjoyed swimming, bowling, travelling, cooking, music and theatre. She was a devoted wife, a loving mother, and a dedicated grandmother. She will be missed by all who knew her.
On December 27, 1957, Barbara united in marriage with Daniel Lee Campbell. She met the love of her life while they were attending Howard University in Washington, D.C. They were married for 44 years, before his untimely death on July 22, 2002. Her greatest joy was being a wife and mom. She took great pride in her six sons and enjoyed the time she spent with them. Again and again, she expressed her happiness with her family, especially during her final days when she appreciated their compassion and caring.
Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, Leonard and Grace Gardner, her husband, Daniel Lee Campbell, and her son, Michael G. Campbell.
Her memory will be cherished by her loving sons: Daniel (Angie) Campbell, Anthony (Tamara) Campbell, Brian Campbell, Kevin Campbell and Christopher (Luke) Campbell; grandchildren: Daniel Gilchrist and Khepri Campbell; cousins: Ronnie Burrell, Ann English, Carol Rolling, John White, Paul White, Yvonne Edwards; sisters-in-law; Lois Roberts, Deborah Bowers, Eunice Holland; special friends, Ann Jackson, Janice Barber, Barbara Gilchrist, Freda Fisher, Theodora Davis and Lee Washington; and a host of extended family and friends.
A visitation will be held from 10:00 am to 11:00 am on Thursday, June 9, 2022 at Newcomer North Chapel, 4104 Needmore Road, Dayton, where the service will begin at 11:00 am. Following the service, she will be laid to rest with her husband at the Dayton National Cemetery.
