Barbara Ann (Fahrion) Lewis, age 77, of Springboro, Ohio, passed away Friday, August 3, 2012.
She was born September 25, 1934 in Dayton, OH, to the late Marie and Clarence Fahrion.
Barbara graduated from Patterson Co-op High School in 1952 and worked at Rikes department store between school sessions. Over the years she also worked for NCR and Rite Aid, ultimately retiring with 16 years of service as a payroll clerk with the Ohio Department of Transportation. Barbara was an accomplished bowler and served as a Girl Scout leader, Band Booster officer, and ROTC parent volunteer in Springboro. She was a member of the VFW Ladies' Auxiliary Post #3809 and was active in the Democratic Party of Warren County.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband of 19 years, Curtis Lewis, sister Dorothy Stubbs, and brothers Bud and Bob Fahrion. Barbara is survived by daughters Becky Lewis of Dayton, Rhonda Heffner (Bill) of Dublin, OH, Julie Grunwald (Erwin) of Centerville, and Diane Lewis of Durham, NC, grandsons Bud (Jessica) Heffner, Joshua Heffner, Stephan Grunwald and Matthew Grunwald, sisters-in-law Dorothy Fahrion and Carol Fahrion, and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial reception will be held Wednesday, August 8, from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Centerville Community Church, 10688 Dayton-Lebanon Pk., Centerville. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made in the memory of Barbara Lewis to Meals on Wheels, 105 S. Wilkinson St., Dayton, OH 45402, attn. Cristal Fillers.
