Austin Ray Defoor

Austin Ray Defoor, "Tiger Shrimp", age 22, of Kettering, passed away unexpectedly on June 17, 2023.

He was born January 25, 2001 in Oceanside, CA. Austin was a graduate of Fairmont High School, Class of 2019. He enjoyed playing football from 3rd grade through 8th grade earning his nickname "Tiger Shrimp" because he was small yet fierce. Austin loved music and taught himself to play the Saxophone, performing in the Jazz Band and Marching Band. He enjoyed being outdoors and spending time with his family especially with his little brother Barrett, and his three dogs Ginger, Jasper, and Cooper.

Austin was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Peggy Hummel, maternal great-grandmother Geraldine Joos, maternal grandfather William "Bill" Hummel, paternal uncle Chris Matthew, paternal great-uncle Wesley Murphy and paternal great-grandmother Kimiko Matthew.

He is survived by his parents Sara Beth (Hummel) and Adam Matthew; his brother Barrett Matthew; maternal grandmother Sheryl Hummel; paternal grandparents Steven and Phyllis Matthew; maternal aunt and uncle Sheila and Steve Ransom; cousin Rebecca Ransom; paternal aunt Jessica Calhoun and family; paternal aunt Misty Defoor; paternal aunt and uncle Leah and Michael Matthew; paternal aunt Melissa LaPeer and family; paternal great aunt and uncle Vickie and Quinton Murphy Jr. and many loving family and friends.

He is also survived by Timothy Defoor II and family.

Austin will always be remembered as a loving and caring son, a devoted brother, grandson, nephew and friend.

An expression of sympathy may be made to the family to help with funeral costs.

Visitation will be held on Monday, June 26, 2023 from 3:00 pm until time of service at 6:00 pm at Newcomer Centerville Chapel, 820 Miamisburg-Centerville Road.
