Augustus Gullett

Augustus "Gus" Ashbel Gullett, age 79, of Bellbrook, OH passed away on January 15, 2020. Gus was born on December 31, 1940 in Duette, FL. He was the son of Asa and Frances (Randolph) Gullett. On November 22, 1962 in Moretown, VT, Gus married the love of his life, Verna Blair. Verna passed away last August 14, 2019 after 57 years of marriage with Gus.

During his working career, Gus worked as a Nurse Anesthetist for Kettering Anesthesiology Group. Gus was a man of faith and was an active member of the Miamisburg Seventh-day Adventist Church. His faith and church-family played a major role in his life. At church Gus was involved with several activities including attending his Sabbath School class, Bible studies and volunteering at Helping Hands Food Pantry. He loved singing traditional hymns.

Gus leaves behind a living legacy consisting of his 3 loving sons, Augustus (Jennifer) Gullett, Jr. of Springboro, OH, Douglas J. Gullett of Beavercreek, OH and David (Leslie) Gullett, Sr. of Bellbrook, OH; brothers, Paul Gullett, James Gullett and Frank Gullett; sisters, Evelyn Graves, Suzanna Faircloth, Daisy Bryant; granddaughter, Christina (David) Moore of Kettering, OH; grandsons, David Gullett, Jr. of Bellbrook, OH and Augustus "Sammy" Gullett of Springboro, OH; great-granddaughter, Melina Moore and great-grandson, Josiah Moore. and many extended family and close friends.

Along with his parents and wife, Verna, Gus was preceded in death by his brothers, Flint Gullett and Benjamin Gullett, and sisters, Mary Muncey, Jane Gullett and Martha Gullett.

Visitation will be held Friday, January 24, 2020, from 11:30 am to 1:30 pm at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions, 820 Miamisburg-Centerville Road, Dayton, Ohio. Funeral services will immediately follow the visitation at 1:30 pm with Pastor Lori Farr officiating. Burial will be in the Bellbrook Cemetery.
