SCOTT, Arvie C. (A.C.) age 94, formerly of Beavercreek, Ohio, passed away January 2, 2025, at Starlight House, his assisted living facility in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
Arvie was born in South Lebanon, Ohio on September 8,1930, one of eleven children born to William U. and Gertrude Scott. Arvie attended Morrow High School in Morrow, Ohio. He met the love of his life at the local malt shop near Lebanon, Ohio and knew she was the one. On May 26, 1950, Arvie married Nancy Amburgy in Richmond, Indiana. Arvie was proud of Nancy, often introducing or referring to her as his “pretty wife”. The couple went on to have 3 children. During this time, Arvie worked several jobs to provide for his growing family. Arvie worked as a lineman for the local telephone company until he purchased a dump truck he used to haul gravel for the new interstate highway system being built. Arvie then worked for a masonry contractor where he learned the skill of block laying. This new skill became his career choice. In 1956 he founded A.C. Scott Masonry, which he and Nancy ran for approximately 38 years. After retirement, they enjoyed trips on his Harley or in his Corvette to the Smokey Mountains, Myrtle Beach and Kentucky to name a few.
Arvie was family-oriented and enjoyed a close connection with his siblings. He especially enjoyed family reunions and the 4th of July pig roast. Arvie looked forward to joining his family for the annual pig roast and firework show at his brother Marvin’s home every year until moving to Albuquerque, New Mexico.
Arvie and his wife Nancy lived in Beavercreek, Ohio for 55 years. He was an active, longtime member of Cornerstone Baptist Temple in Dayton, Ohio before moving to Albuquerque, New Mexico.
Arvie was preceded in death by his wife of 74 years, Nancy; parents William U. and Gertrude Scott; four brothers William Jr., Don, Jerry, Dwight Lee and one grandchild. He is survived by two sons Edward (Ruth) Scott and Dennis (Alicia) Scott; one daughter Kim Stowe; eight grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; two brothers Marvin (Marilyn) Scott, and Pete (Beverly) Scott; and four sisters, Darlene Lamb, Treva Thompson, Joyce Winans, and Alice Brandenburg.
Arvie will be greatly missed by his family.
