Arvele Grubb, 86 years old, left this world early Sunday morning, September 29, 2024. Born in Bright Shade, Clay County, Kentucky to Tinsley Grubb and Gladys Grubb.
He graduated from Knox Central High School in Barbourville, KY, and from Cumberland College in Williamsburg, KY.
After 33 years of teaching, he retired from the Northridge Local School District in 1995. He loved his work and the difference he could make in others’ lives, continuing down the path that made such a difference in his own life. He cared so much and did all he could to help when he saw the need. He was a great provider and friend! He always had a listening ear and great life advice.
Once retired, he enjoyed his time with his wife and grandchildren with many trips to different parks, long walks on the river levy, bike rides through the neighborhood, trips to McDonalds for happy meals and ice cream, and trips to the library, of course.
A frugal and humble man, he loved being outdoors tending to his garden and yard, fiddling in the garage or shed. An avid reader and lifetime learner, he enjoyed watching the news and nature shows on tv, listening to classic country and gospel music and passing his knowledge on when the opportunity presented itself. He was a master at spoonerisms! In his younger days, he enjoyed hunting squirrels and turtles.
Arvele was the oldest of eight children. He was preceded in death by his mother and father, two infant sisters, Layuna and Imogene Grubb, and his brothers, Leon Grubb of Huber Heights, OH, Odell Grubb and wife, Lois Grubb of Barbourville, KY, and Albert Grubb of Williamsburg, KY, and sister-in-law, Helen Grubb of Bowling Green, KY, brother-in-law, Edmon King of Bryant’s Store, KY, and father and mother-in-law, Lorenzo Hill and Rosa Hill of Barbourville, KY.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Jewell Evelene Grubb, his three children, Russell Grubb, Cindy Reiling and husband, Joseph Reiling, and Beverly Carroll and husband, Tony Carroll, his four grandchildren, Amberly Smith and husband, Ricky Smith, Kevin Wright, Mallory Adams and husband, Patrick Adams, and Anthony Carroll, and his four great grandchildren, Mackenzie Smith and Wyatt Smith, Letti Adams, and Gracie Hughes.
He is also survived by his brother, Carlos Grubb and wife, Barbara Grubb of Williamsburg, KY, his sister, Wilma King of Bryant’s Store, KY, sister-in-law Wilma Jean Grubb of Huber Heights, OH and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
