Arthur C. Snyder, Jr., beloved husband and father, passed away December 25, 2024. Art was born in 1945 in Hornell, NY, to the late Arthur and Irene Snyder. He graduated from Tecumseh High School in New Carlisle, OH, and went on to Dartmouth University and Wright State University, where he studied English and the Classics. He played football throughout high school and college.
He had a career as a writer and editor for various magazines, museum projects, and the Dayton Daily Newspaper, as well as teaching writing at Sinclair Community College. While working for the Dayton Daily, he especially enjoyed reviewing movies and interviewing musicians who came to perform in the Dayton area He also worked at WYSO in Yellow Springs, OH, hosting both a popular weekly blues program, Duck Butter Blues, and also a trivia program for 15-20 years. In addition to his work, he also volunteered his time helping Gifted Education school program educators.
In his free time, Art enjoyed collecting and listening to blues records, collecting postage stamps and rubber stamps, reading historical nonfiction books and biographies, and supporting local community artists, especially by collecting and displaying their artwork prominently in his home.
Art was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Irene, his sister Sharon, and his son Arthur. He is survived by his wife, Jenny Snyder, daughter Elizabeth Snyder, and son-in-law David Warren.
