Arthur L. Schultz, age 93 of Centerville, went home to be with the Lord on December 14, 2014. He was born October 9, 1921 in Deep River, Iowa to the late Arthur H. and Francis Schultz. In addition to his parents, Pastor Art was preceded in death by his wife, Norma Schultz; children: Alan, Nathan and Paul Schultz; and sisters: Marilyn and Gertrude.
Pastor Art is survived by his daughter and son-in-law: Deborah and Philip Esala; son and daughter-in-law: Daniel and Karen Schultz; 10 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; sister, Leone Dunkelburg; and brother, David (Darlene) Schultz.
Pastor Art was baptized on October 23, 1921 and confirmed on May 26, 1935 at St. John's Lutheran Church in Victor, Iowa. He graduated on June 2, 1946 from Concordia Theological Seminary in Springfield, Illinois and was ordained on July 21, 1946 in Austin, Minnesota. Pastor Art served many congregations including: Austin and Dunnell, MN; San Antonio, TX; Burt, Red Oak, Villisca and Hinton, IA; and Monroe, MI. He was instrumental in starting multiple congregations during his ministry. Pastor Art served as Institutional Chaplain in Des Moines, IA. He was a longtime member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church, Kettering, OH and served on its pastoral staff.
Visitation will be held from 6-8 pm on Tuesday, December 16, 2014 at Emmanuel Lutheran Church, 4865 Wilmington Pike, Kettering, where the funeral service will be held at 10:00 am on Wednesday. A graveside service will be held at 3:30 pm at Gethsemane Cemetery in Monroe, MI. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Pastor Art's memory to Lutheran Bible Translators, P.O.
