Arthur L. "Art" Lindsley, age 83 of Kettering, passed away January 19, 2014. He was born April 12, 1930 in Fulton, NY to the late Ralph and Doris Lindsley. In addition to his parents, Art was preceded in death by wives: Jackie Lindsley and Barbara Jean Lindsley; and brother, Harry Lindsley.
Art is survived by his wife, Rita Lindsley; daughters: Teresa (Tim) Sparks, Debra (Rick) Williams and Michelle (Chris Miller) Battigaglia; 7 grandchildren: Brandy (Adam) Baker, Miranda (Joel) Hemmelgarn, Tiffany (Kriss Henry) Sparks, Christopher (Stephanie) Williams, Julia, Brandon and Dana Battigaglia; 12 great grandchildren; brother, Robert (Sis) Lindsley; sister-in-law, Kathy Wolford; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Art was a veteran of the U.S. Army, Korean War. He was a member of the Antioch Legion of Honor, Harvest Chapter O.E.S and White Shrine. Art was a faithful member of Oak Creek Worship Center, where he served as an usher. He attended and was baptized at Troy First Church of God and served as a Sunday school teacher there. He was an award winning chef and took first place with his ribs and sauce at many barbeque cook-offs. He loved to fish, golf and hunt and was a member of Ducks Unlimited. He loved his family and his animals.
Visitation will be held from 5-8 pm on Friday, January 24, 2014 at Newcomer Funeral Home, 4104 Needmore Road, where the funeral service will be held at 10:00 am on Saturday. Burial to follow at Forest Hills Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Art's memory to The Hospice of Dayton. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at The Hospice of Dayton for their loving care and to their neighbors for watching out for their pets while they were gone.
