RICE, Arnold Lee, 81, of Dayton, passed away on Tuesday, June 24, 2008 at Grandview Hospital. Arnold was born in Leander, KY on November 16, 1926 to Alger and Bertha Rice. He was a Class of 1945 graduate of Jenny's Creek High School where he played basketball with teammates that became great lifelong friends. He proudly served his county in World War II as a T-5 Corporal and medical technician in France and Germany. He retired from Delco Products, a Division of General Motors, on December 23, 1988 after 41 years of service. He was a member of the Miami Valley Motorcycle Club and IUE-CWA 755. He was well known as a friend, neighbor, handyman, avid fisherman, longtime Wright State Raider Basketball season ticket holder, NASCAR fan, flower lover, gardener and collector of everything. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Harold. He is survived by Barbara, his loving wife of 54 years; a daughter LaDonna Lally (Bob) of Princeton Junction, NJ; a daughter Debra Pyron of Houston, TX; and his grandchildren Robert, Stephanie, Katie and Ally. His grandchildren gave him tremendous joy. He is also survived by a host of loving friends and wonderful neighbors. He was loved by all who knew him and will be dearly missed. Visitation and Viewing will be held at Newcomer Funeral Home, Beavercreek Chapel: 3380 Dayton-Xenia Rd. on Sunday, June 29 from 2-5. Funeral services will be on Monday, June 30, 2008 at Newcomer Funeral Home, Beavercreek Chapel at 11:30 a.m. A military burial service will be held at Dayton National Cemetery: VAMC, 4100 W. Third Street on Monday, June 30, 2008 at 1:00 p.m.
