Arneta Lynn Kirksey

March 8, 1951 — November 15, 2021

Arneta Lynn Kirksey was born March 8th, 1951 to Jimmie Lee and Annie Kirksey. She was raised in a Christian home and attended MT. Olive Baptist Church, Rev. D.W. McFarland, Pastor

She graduated from Dunbar High School, Class of 1969. She worked as a Dental Assistant at Charles H. Drew Health Center and also worked as a sales consultant at Sized Unlimited for many years. She was a Visionary Leader and felt strongly one of her missions was to help support others fulfill their visions. She would encourage (push) you to finish your purpose and not give up easily. She had a natural creative ability and talent often demonstrating when she would sew and design clothing for herself and others. She was a role model for full figure women showing them how to dress fashionable. She was a "DIVA" at heart. She created floral arrangements for Christ Temple, Abundant Life and various events and venues.

She was taught how to cook and bake in her early years by her Mother Annie and was known for her Pork Chops, potatoes and onions, lemon delight and pineapple upside down cake and Onion Burgers just to mention a few.

In the early 70's ,she became a member of Christ Temple Apostolic Faith Church, Bishop Fred & Mother Clara Majors, Pastor and Founders. Nita became better acquainted with Mother Majors and was favored to be her Spiritual Daughter and lived in the Majors home until their demise. This was a time of mentoring for her personal and spiritual life. It was her relationship with Mother Majors that paved a path for her later to birth her own spiritual daughters.

While at Christ Temple, she was dedicated and faithful to the church working as Woman's Day Coordinator for many years raising funds for the church, Prayer Leader for Noon Day and All Night Prayer, Culinary Ministry, Music Ministry, Pastor's Aide and several ancillary committees. Christ Temple was a Ministry preparation station for many people to develop themselves for their God Given assignment.

In 2000, she went on assignment to help Judah Apostolic Tabernacle, Pastor Cheryl Glenn. It was there, Minister Kirksey helped birth many souls for the Kingdom of God. She was a great support and again would labor on the altar in prayer and intercession. She also would assist Pastor Eric Colter of Refuge Of Ministries. She loved to fellowship and encourage the saints.

In 2004, she joined Abundant Life Christ Centered Ministries, Bishop Joel Lofton, Pastor (GodSon). She continued working faithfully in the Prayer Ministry, Church Beautification, Intercessor for the Bishop, Church Historian and Dedicated Altar Worker. She was affectionately called "Mother Kirksey" and would teach the younger ladies to live a Life of Holiness. (Whether they wanted to hear it or not!) In 2008, she was licensed and ordained as an Elder in The Lord's Church and continued working faithfully in the Ministry.

Nita believed in studying the Bible but not only that but to rightly divide the Word. She would not let you just quote any scripture to her, it had to be in the right context or she would correct you quickly. She worked as one of the coordinators with the Muskegon Bible Institute, Bishop Willie J. Duncan, Founder and Grace International College, Dr. Gloria. J. Forward, President, She received her Doctorate in Ministry from Grace International College in 1996 after many years of preparation and studying. This gave her a sense of accomplishment as she would encourage others they too could achieve their Degree.

One of her most treasured times in her life was when she was given a son Lyndell Wynn. She was so happy to be his Mom and cared for him in the same manner. Throughout Nita's life she encountered health challenges, up's and downs but she always kept going regardless of how she felt in her physical body. She would use each challenge as a stepping stone to move up a little higher on her journey. She was so grateful to God she made it to her 70th birthday this year for many times she didn't think she would. Nita lived a full life developing long lasting friendships, traveling the country, connecting with Prayer Partners, teaching the Bible but most of all living a Life of Holiness.

She was preceded in death by her Parents: Jimmie Lee and Annie Kirksey.
