Argie I. Johnson, age 91 of Dayton, passed away October 4, 2021 at her home. She was born on June 27, 1930 in Mt. Vernon, KY to the late Willie and Elizabeth Smith. In addition to her parents, Argie was preceded in death by her sisters and brothers-in-law, Elva (Willie) Lakes, Fred (Ern) Lakes, Fern (Virgil) Lake, Dereda (James) Byrd; brothers, Shelby and Gary Smith.
She is survived by her son, Timothy K. Johnson; granddaughter, Kelly Calicoat; great grandsons, Kaige and Blake Calicoat; grandson, Andrew (Jenita) Johnson; great granddaughter, Grace due in February 2022; son, Mark D. Johnson; grandson, Grant Johnson; sisters, Almeda Smith and Dorotha Markey; brother, Barry (Karen) Smith; sister-in-law, Shirley Smith and a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces & nephews, too numerous to count.
During her lifetime Argie was employed by NCR, Elder Beerman Stores and Kettering Hospital. She also worked as a real estate agent for more than 10 years. Argie enjoyed being outdoors working in the yard. She had a deep commitment to her family and always was willing to lend a hand to others. Argie loved preparing large meals for family and friends to enjoy in her presence. She looked forward to the holiday seasons to entertain guests and spread cheer!
Argie's wishes were to be cremated and a memorial gathering will be held at a later date in Richmond, IN.
