It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Anthony Todd Shavers, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend to many. Anthony died on March 3, 2024.
Anthony was born on February 8, 1964, in Dayton, Ohio, the son of William and Patricia Shavers. He attended Patterson Co-Op where he began his career in Tool and Die. Later he changed his career, received his CDL license, and became a semi-truck driver for the next 24 years.
Anthony is preceded in death by his father William Shavers Jr., mother Patricia Shavers, and brother Michael Shavers.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 38 years, Toinette Shavers, and two children, son, Airam J. Thurman and daughter, Kar-Nita A. Hart-Shavers. Two adoring granddaughters, Kamaria L. Jackson, and Khayla A. Jackson. One sister, Sonia Shavers-Green, two brothers, Mark Shavers and Eric (Denise) Shavers, and sister-in-law, Ryanne Shavers. As well as his in-laws, Devosta (Sheri) Hart Jr., and one brother-in-law, Devosta Debaun Hart. One special niece, Chelsea (Lamar) Dalton, and other nieces and nephews, a host of cousins, a special cousin, Jerry (Renita) Green, and a host of aunts and uncles.
In 1982 Anthony (Todd) dedicated his life as a Jehovah's Witness, he served faithfully for the last 15 years of his life, Auxiliary Pioneering (spending 15-30 hours a month evangelizing) from time to time with his wife and granddaughters.
Todd, (as he was affectionately called by his family) loved his family and enjoyed spending quality time with them. He and his family took many trips together, creating countless memories that will be cherished forever. He worked at Martin/Brower for 20 years, where his co-workers and friends knew him as Tony. He also loved fishing, using a kayak he equipped to fish in. Some of his fondest memories were fishing with his two granddaughters because it was more than just catching fish; it was about creating lasting memories with them, hoping that they would uphold his passion for fishing. He was a die-hard Cleveland Browns fan. Many of his happiest times were when he would attend a Cleveland Browns game sitting in the "Dawg Pound".
Anthony's death has left a void in the lives of all who knew him. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, colleagues, and those in the congregation. Our family can't wait until we hear, as Lazaraus' family did, 'Come out!' and say to us, "Here is your loved one, Todd". In the meantime, we thank Jehovah for that wonderful hope, it does not remove the grief or sorrow, but it brings us comfort.
A gathering with family and friends will be held from 11:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 30, 2024 at Wolf Creek Congregation Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 1530 James H. McGhee Blvd. Memorial service will begin at 12:00 p.m. at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses. Inurnment to follow at Woodland Cemetery and Arboretum, 118 Woodland Ave.
