Anthony M. Hollis was born at St. Elizabeth Hospital on December 28, 1957 to Russell E. and Cecilia Hollis. He attended Ankeney Jr. High and excelled at wrestling, track and other physical activities, winning several awards as a youth. He graduated from Beavercreek High School in the year 1976 and moved out west to Arizona to join the United States Air Force, serving a full four year term. Honorably discharged in 1981, Anthony rose to the rank of US Tactical Aircraft Maintenance Specialist. Having always had a deep fascination with anything mechanical, Tony as he was better known, could identify any plane in the sky purely based off the sound. He met Vanthany Mean at a laundromat in Colorado Springs in 1982 and they were married later that year, giving birth to sons Andrew in 1983 and Matthew in 1986, respectively after moving back to Dayton. Here they bought a house and began raising a family. Tony worked at a number of different garages over the years including Ludlow automotive and Grismer Tire eventually settling down at Hilltop Automotive when the owner passed. Tony took over the business and ran it successfully for several years. Tony loved cars, planes and boats…anything with an engine. He was an avid NASCAR fan and loved to read. Always looking to satisfy his appetite for knowledge he loved to watch the Discovery and History Channel while reading National Geographic or one of his favorite plane/car magazines. Tony loved language, machines and his wife's cooking. He was a unique man, both simple and complicated at the same time, but one that will be mourned by many and truly missed by those who loved him the most. An alternative service will be held at a later date for friends and acquaintances. Info will be dispensed at that time. A private service will be held in his honor at Newcomer Funeral Home - Beavercreek Chapel.
