Annita L. Torgeson, age 93 of Dayton, passed away December 19, 2020. She was born July 13, 1927 in Bremerhaven, Germany to the late Anton and Rosa Borcherding. In addition to her parents, Annita was preceded in death by her husband, Theodore Torgeson; and several brothers and sisters.
Annita is survived by her son, Brian Torgeson (Lisa); daughter, Heidi Torgeson; granddaughter, Katrina Torgeson; brother: Michael; sisters: Monica, Annalie and Helga; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Annita became a U.S. Citizen in 1963. She was employed with the Inland Division of General Motors; was active in the Dayton Liederkranz-Turner Club and the Greater Beneficial Union of Dayton. She loved traveling, taking cruises, and was very happy to have been able to make it back to Germany a couple of times to visit her family. Annita enjoyed doing yard work and cooking.
A memorial service will be held at a later date at her church, St. John's United Church of Christ. Private entombment will be held at Dayton Memorial Park Cemetery Mausoleum. Arrangements entrusted to the care of Newcomer North Chapel, 4104 Needmore Road. Contributions may be made in Annita's memory to the Hospice of Dayton.
