Annette Vance
July 15, 1960 — October 5, 2022
On the late afternoon of October 5, 2022, Annette Vance of Dayton, Ohio fell asleep in death at the age of 62 after a brief illness.
Annette was the second oldest of 4 children born to John W. Davis Sr and Shirley A. Davis on July 15, 1960. She graduated in 1977 from Dunbar High School.
Annette was a homemaker; she loved caring for her husband, children, grandchildren, pets and home. In 1979, she married Gregory Vance Sr and the family grew to include 4 children. In 1980, she dedicated her life to Jehovah and served him faithfully as part of the Dayton Central Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses and was a diligent full time pioneer in the past 25 years until her death.
She loved traveling and this often included going on the road with her husband to various states while he was delivering loads as a truck driver. For many years she enjoyed annual cruises, International district conventions and family trips. She loved her family and especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren that affectionately called her "nanna".
Annette Vance was preceded in death by her brother, John W. Davis Jr. She is survived by her parents: John W. Davis, Sr. and Shirley A. Davis; brothers Glen Davis, Gary Davis; her devoted husband of 43 years, Gregory Vance, Sr.; 2 daughters, Jackie (Walter) Williams, Gwendolyn A. Vance; 2 sons, Gregory Vance, II, Brandon M. (Stephanie) Vance; step-son Randall (Bambi) Green; 4 grandchildren, Laniya, Omari, Aliyah, Ariyaj; and a host of in-laws, nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
On behalf of Annette, the family would like to thank her special friends, Howard (Sue) Williams, Tony (Jackie) Harden, niece Angela Redd, Ashlynd Vance, and the Walker family. Also extend a special thank you to the hospital liaison committee for their diligent work on Annette's case.
Visitation will be held from 1-2 pm on Friday, October 14, 2022 at Newcomer Funeral Home, North Chapel, 4104 Needmore Road. A graveside service will follow at Dayton Memorial Park Cemetery. A memorial service will be held at 6 pm at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 1161 Bartley Road, Dayton, Ohio.
