Anne Dickinson Pavey, age 79, of Dayton passed away on December 7, 2023. She was born in Hampton, Virginia on April 13, 1944 to the late Herman Lee and Paige Dickinson. In addition to her parents, Anne is preceded in death by her aunts, Frances Lewis and Martha "Pete" Thomas.
Anne is survived by her children, Tom (Sunny) Pavey and Diane (Brent) Beck; grandchildren, Sara and Robert Pavey, Aiden and Colin Beck; along with other family and friends.
After graduating from the College of William and Mary, Anne was both an elementary and preschool teacher, most recently teaching at the Christ United Methodist preschool in Kettering. She would say, however, that her most important job was Mom. She was one of the original soccer moms, except she spent hours driving her kids and their friends in her station wagon instead of a minivan. There wasn't one event her kids participated in that didn't find Anne in the stands (or auditorium, golf course, or pool . . .) cheering us on. There wasn't an activity her kids wanted to try that she didn't support. She even agreed to let Tom learn the drums and be in a band (we all found out too late that the band always practices at the drummer's house). Anne was always up to host her kids' friends, serve weird snacks, and pick us up when we were out and about. She mommed her kids' friends almost as much as her own kids, and got such joy from spoiling her grandkids with time, fun activities, and so. much. candy. Her calm demeanor and generosity are examples to us all. We'll remember her by laughing at something silly, doing a goofy dance, and enjoying the little moments in life.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a contribution in Anne's memory to Crossroads Hospice and Palliative Care.
A Celebration of Anne's Life will be held from 1:00 p.m. - 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 28, 2023, at Newcomer Kettering, 3940 Kettering Blvd.
