Ann Jackson Bachman

September 28, 1928 — October 14, 2013

Ann Jackson Bachman, 85, of Centerville, OH formerly of Bristol, TN passed away with her daughter Nancy Potter at her side, October 16th, 2013.

Born September 28, 1928 in Hamburg, AR, she married the late Jonathan D. Bachman of Bristol, TN in 1948, earned a Bachelor's Degree at King College, and a Master of Science degree in 1972 from East TN State University Ann was a long-time member of Emmanuel Episcopal Church in Bristol, VA, where she participated in delivering Meals on Wheels until she could no longer drive. She had a lifelong love of learning which she fostered by teaching, both professionally and informally. Ann loved young and young-hearted people. Many is a night she hiked around the woods of her beloved home in Bristol, TN gathering leaves and bugs for her own or the child of a close friend's collection due the following day. She knew the surrounding mountains and countryside like the back of her hand and would gladly accompany friends and family on forays to the hills, lakes, and rivers.

Survivors include her brother Richard Jackson of Waco, TX, her daughters, Nancy Potter of Centerville, OH, Mary Wilson of Gastonia, NC son-in law Daniel Wilson of Gastonia, NC, grandson Jonathan Martin Potter of NYC, NY grand-daughter Kara Grace Wilson of Gastonia, NC, step-grandsons Dustin and Isaiah Cardwell of Bristol, TN, many nieces and nephews and beloved friends and caregivers Cheryl Gibson, Kizzie Howard and Gwen Chenet.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Howard R. and Lola May Jackson of Arkansas, her sister and brother-in-law Eddie and Bonnie Person of AR, sister-in-law Dora Lynn Jackson of TX, her son Edward Jonathan Bachman and son and daughter-in-law John Davis and Marcy Jo Bachman. Her daughters would like to thank Cheryl Gibson, Gwen Chenet and Kizzie Howard for the tender care she received while residing in Centerville. We would not have had her here to love nearly as long without their loving assistance.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, October 19, 2013 from 1-2 pm at Newcomer Funeral Home South Chapel (3940 Kettering Blvd, Kettering, OH 45439.) The service will follow at 2 pm.
