Andrew (Andy) Elmer Merritts, 75, passed away early Monday morning, the 17th of March, 2014 with his family by his side. Andy was born January 17, 1939 in Johnstown, Ohio, to Homer and Hollis Merritts.
Andy was a jack of all trades. From working on cars and lawn mowers, to painting air planes, to wood working and machinery. He has had many career experiences and retired from Ketco Inc. in '97 after 18 years of dedication to the Tool & Die industry.
He was also a man of many hobbies and talents. Andy loved to tinker around the garage and take things apart and put them back together, just to know how it worked or ran. Anything that needed to be fixed, he was your man. But, his most loved past time, was sitting on the side of a lake or in a boat fishing. He didn't have to catch anything; just to be in the peace of the outdoors.
Andy is survived by his wife, Barb, sister Donna, children, Andrea (George), Pati (Joe), Debbie, Liz (Ben), Michael (Jen), Mark (Jessica). Grandchildren Bethany, Joey, Abby, Cassie, Kayleigh, Jessica, Jeffery, Sara, Deven, Taylor, Nevaeh, Landon. Great grandchildren Sophia and Emma. And many, many friends. Also his beloved furchildren, his dogs Spike and Ty.
He was preceded in death by his daughter Dixie, son David, and granddaughter Kaitlyn.
Service will be held Wednesday, March 19th at 2pm at East Dayton Christian Church. 3415 Linden Ave, Dayton, Oh 45410. There will be a dinner immediately following for close friends and family at Liz's house.
