AnaCorita Tapalla Wares, age 76, passed away July 8th, 2020 at her home in Riverside, Ohio. Corina, as she was lovingly known, was born February 6, 1944 in in Palo, a province of Leyte, Republic of the Philippines to Juan and Timotea Cuesta.
Corina was raised as a young child in Manila by her grandmother and cared for her family deeply. Years later, she managed funds for a major hotel owner in Angeles City. She would go on to marry her greatest love and late husband, Don, and was a devoted spouse throughout their fifty years together. They traveled the world, which allowed Corina to use her natural linguistic capability, learning and speaking several languages. While raising her children, Corina attended Jocson Junior College, Angeles City where she studied Cosmetology and Fashion Design, with a specialization as a seamstress. She held several jobs over the years supporting her family, and made many meaningful friendships to include her co-workers at both TKO and AAFES. Corina enjoyed spending her later years gardening and spending time with her friends.
Corina is survived by her living siblings, Flocerfina Canlas, Alicia (Roger) Rhodes, Lucia (Dale) Martens, Susana (Philip) Parkman, Juan Jr. (Marilyn) Cuesta; children, Ken (Christine) Wares, Gina Wares, Christine Shannon, Mike (Michelle) Wares, Linda (Charles) McGrigg; and fifteen beloved grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Friday, July 17, 2020 between 10:30 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, 820 Miamisburg-Centerville Road, Centerville, Ohio. A private burial service will follow at Dayton National Cemetery. A celebration of Corina's life will be held at 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Hilton Garden Inn, 3520 Pentagon Park Blvd, Beavercreek. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Ohio Patriot Guard at www.ohiopgr.com.
