Amy S. Karl, age 50, of Kettering, graduated from this life Wednesday, August 31, 2011 at Wood Glenn Alzheimer's Community.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Nancy Farren; grandparents, Nellie & Ralph Doll, and Ethel Farren; Aunt Sherry Miller; and cousin, Michael Miller.
Amy is survived by her husband of 28 years, Bob Karl; daughters, Caitlin and Colleen Karl; grandfather, Marion Farren; father, Joe Farren; sisters, Beth (Chet) Anderson, Meg (Dave) Roalef, and Jonell (Matt) Haupt; nieces & nephews, Joe, Sarah, Nathan and Bekah Anderson, Jon, Abbey, Jacob and Maggie Roalef, Noah, Addie and Emma Haupt; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, dear friends and her little dog Marley.
Amy graduated from Fairmont West High School in 1979, and The University of Dayton in 1983. She was a very talented field hockey player. Amy also coached field hockey, track, and basketball for the Kettering City Schools. She taught physical education at St. Charles School for 22 years. Amy was the founder and coach of the St. Charles Juggling Club. She volunteered at the Food Pantry at Greenmont-Oak Park Church where she was a lifelong member. Amy especially loved family vacations at Emerald Isle, NC. She was a loving and devoted mom & wife. Amy was also an enthusiastic fan and cheerleader for her daughters, nieces and nephews. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
A memorial service will be held Sunday, September 4, 2011 at 2pm at Greenmont-Oak Park Church (1921 Woodman Dr). Friends are welcome to visit with the family following the service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Amy's memory to the Alzheimer's Association or the Greenmont-Oak Park Memorial Fund.
