Amos "Max" Green

December 17, 1936 — March 6, 2023

Amos Maxwell "Max" Green; age 86 of Huber Heights, OH; went home to Glory with Jesus awaiting on March 6, 2023. Max was born on December 17, 1936 in Ashland, KY. After graduating from Glenn Rogers High School, Glenn Rogers, WV in May 1954, he went on to join the USAF June 17, 1954, where he proudly served his country for 26 years, 11 of which were in England. He attended basic training at Sampson AFB and went on to small arms school (pistols, rifles, up through cannons) before he was stationed in England where he met the first love of his life, a Lancashire lass, Enid (Dixon) Green. They married December 8, 1956 and enjoyed 53 wonderful years of marriage full of love and travel before she passed away. In 1974, while stationed in England, Max and Enid met Nick and Chryal Nichols who would not only become lifelong friends, but they traveled together to Israel where they were baptized in the Jordan River and became the Godparents to Brian and Angel. During his career, he served in Vietnam, cross trained in missiles, PMEL and automatic testing equipment before finally settling in Huber Heights, OH in 1978 and retiring in 1980. After 2 months though, he would find himself returning to the same job, same desk as a civilian contractor and would continue to work until he officially retired in 1998.

Bobbie Andrews-Green would become the final love of his life. They wed March 10, 2012 and he was not only blessed with 3 children; James, Anna and Janna, but also their spouses and grandchildren that would come after filling his life with much love, laughter and purpose.

Max loved serving the Lord and has been active in his church family at CLC since 1998 serving many years as Head Usher. Max was a faithful blood donor to help save lives and donated 385 units of blood over his lifetime. He enjoyed golf, drinking coffee and eating donuts, being Tom Peck, traveling all over the world with Disney World and Hawaii topping his list, he loved a good pipe after dinner, and always dressed to the nines, even while mowing the grass (aka Mr. Fancy Pants). He was truly a picture of Jesus on Earth…the way he loved, served and led by example and preferred to greet you with an annointed hug over a handshake. He loved and lived for God, his family and friends and his Country.

Max is preceded in death by his mother, Verna Stewart McGraw, step-father, William H. McGraw II, whom Max credits as 'the one who made me the man I am today', first wife, Enid Green; Brother: Roy Green; Sister: Phyllis Ann Shawl, Jennifer Beckette; brothers-in-law: Bob Shawl and Bobby Taraczkozy.

Max is survived by his wife: Roberta "Bobbie" Andrews-Green; his sister: Bonnie Taraczkozy; his brother: Butch McGraw (Debbie); his children: James Andrews (Josephine), Anna Valley (Mike), Janna Grant (Dimitri); his grandchildren: Michael, Alice, Judah, Naomi, and Moriah; Godchildren: Brian Nichols, Angel Chappell, and Michael Valley; and a multitude of nieces, nephews, and extended family members. A legacy started by his step father was summarized best by his grandson Michael - "Even though we are not family by blood, we are family by heart."

The family will receive friends on Monday, March 20, 2023 from 10am-12pm at the Christian Life Center, 3489 Little York Rd, Dayton, OH 45414. A celebration of life service will follow at 12pm. Max's services will be posted to view at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KtlryAFBMyo.
