America Snyder

Snyder, America L. (Schouwe), age 86, of Washington Twp. passed away at Hospice of Dayton on Wednesday, January 9, 2008 after a lengthy illness.

She was preceded in death by her parents Julio and Trinidad Schouwe, brothers Diogenes and Socrates, sister Christina Simons, a beloved son-in-law Richard Sherrow and two beloved daughters Lizabeth A. Burt and Roberta L. Furlow. America was a devoted and loving mother and grandmother and is survived by three sons and their spouses: Carlos and Linda Wood of Troy, Mike and Sharon Wood of Sugarland, TX, Lewis and Sunny Wood of Dallas, TX; five daughters and their spouses: Eneida Sherrow of Katy, TX, Irma and David Lykins of West Carrollton, Rebecca Kesting of Dayton, Deborah and Roger Walker of Centerville, Myrna and Aaron Blair of Keller, TX; 27 grandchildren: Tami, Carlos, Nita, Richard, Charlie, Lana, Roberto, Maria, Denise, Michael, Paco, Lauren, Leslie, Melissa, Justin, Michele, Jason, Timothy, Jessica, Zachery, Nathan, Keri, Krista, Tika, Jenny, Mark, and Parker; 39 great grandchildren; 5 great great grandchildren; a special nephew Marc Schouwe of San Diego, CA; 53 nephews and nieces (Schouwes & Simons) in her native country of Panama, and many friends and family in Christ.

America was born in Panama on November 6, 1921, arrived in the United States in 1955, and has been a US citizen since 1972. She retired in April of 1986 from General Motors/Delco Products, and was an active member of Christ Community Church in Bellbrook.

The family will celebrate the life of America Snyder at Newcomer Funeral Home (South Chapel) 3940 Kettering Blvd., Kettering, Ohio (293-4141). Family and friends may visit from 9:00 - 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, January 12, with services immediately following with Pastor Walter Brent officiating.
