What a woman! How do you describe a woman who lived her life so successfully always with a smile on her face? In one word, AMAZING! Alyce was a woman before her time: she was a feminist. She was fierce. She was independent. She was an inspiration to younger women. Alyce was widowed early and she helped and supported other women who were on their own. She was loving to all and in return Alyce was loved by many. She was a woman who made a habit of gathering friends of all ages and was interested in everyone and everything. Alyce was always willing to try and tackle any project before calling for help. She was very artistic using her skills in tailoring, ceramics and crafts to make others happy.
Her family and friends were the recipients of many beautiful and sometimes unusual pieces of her work. Alyce loved to learn and probably kept the publishers of numerous magazines in business. She was frugal and didn't believe in getting rid of anything because EVERYTHING had a use. Alyce was generous and a really, really good cook. So many happy times came while sitting around her dining room table enjoying her homemade treats and recipes. Nobody ever went hungry around Alyce.
She lived by the beat of her own drum and made no apologies. She was a plus sized woman who refused to let that stop her from being sexy and always beautifully put together. Alyce loved to celebrate and had decorations for every occasion. Alyce loved to talk and tell a good story or joke. And even though during the final years of her life she was nearly blind and could hardly hear, she wanted to fill each day with purpose. She honestly believed that the doctors would find a cure for her vision and hearing and she would be here for a really long time. I don't think she ever believed she was 96! And finally Alyce was faithful to her Lord which made her believe that being kind was the way you should walk upon this earth. Alyce, you will be so missed but always remembered with a smile.
