Alva E. Butt
Age 78, of Dayton, Ohio passed away at his residence Sunday, September 3, 2006, surrounded by his family and under the care of Hospice of Dayton. He was born on June 25, 1928 in Brown County, Ohio.
Alva was retired from GM after 36 years of service. He was a Boy Scout leader for Troop 105 for over 20 years, guiding 13 of the boys to become Eagle Scouts.
Alva was preceded in death by his parents, Howard & Elma (Fite) Butt; and by his brothers, Charles, Lester & Earl.
He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Inez; daughters, Linda O'Connor (Butch), Sharon Rogers, Benita Young (Dan); son, John Butt (Kathy); his grandchildren include Amy Palmer, Jill Cyester, Monica, Erin & Leslie Rogers, Donald Wood III, David & Douglas Young, Joshua, Ashley, Rebecca & Connor Butt; great-grandchildren, Brooke & Macy Moxley, Carlie Palmer, Kailey Rogers, Shylynn Butt, and Dylan Allamon; brother, Ronald Butt (Alma), numerous family members including nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Alva will be cremated and his ashes will be scattered from a U. S. Army Blackhawk helicopter by his grandson, SPC Donald Wood III of the 1/137th Assault Helicopter Unit.
Memorial services will be held at 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, at Newcomer Funeral Home & Crematory, 4104 Needmore Road, Dayton. The family will be receiving friends from 5:00 p.m. until service time.
In lieu of flowers the family would prefer that contributions be made to Hospice of Dayton or the Dayton Area Diabetes Association. The family wishes to thank the many caring and supportive staff of Hospice of Dayton.
