COOK, TSgt. Alonzo M. Jr., ("Al"), USAF retired, died Saturday, August 21, 2004, at Miami Valley Hospital of complications which had arisen from lung surgery. He served for 21 years in the U.S. Air Force before retiring to Dayton in 1974. He spent the next 19 years teaching vocational electronics at W.E. Stebbins H.S. and retired in 1993. He is survived by his wife of nearly 49 years, Kathleen Cook, his sons Mark A. Cook and wife Joan of Dayton, Brian K. Cook and wife Kim of Dayton, his grandchildren, Nicole Caudill, Jason Caudill and wife Heather, Brian Cook Jr. and Kendra Cook, and his great granson, Xander Caudill. He is also survived by three sisters: Geraldine Adkins of Peach Creek, WV, Leanell C. Groves and husband Brooks of Winston-Salem, NC, and Hettie C. Jackson and husband Mayford of Clendinin, WV. He was preceded in death by his parents, Alonzo M. Sr. and Susie Mae (Short) Cook, two infant siblings at birth, brothers Josiah E. Cook, Buell Cook and Ralph Cook, (all WWII Veterans) and sisters Mary Bell Halsey, Gay Busch and Bertha Haught. A graduate of the University of Cincinnati, Al was a deacon at the Brantwood Baptist Church and a volunteer policeman with the Montgomery County Sheriff's Dept. He was also a volunteer at the WPAFB hospital pharmacy for many years. He was a Master Mason at Knollwood Lodge #774, a Royal Archmason, Royal and Select Mason, and a Knight of the Nathaniel Greene Commandry. He was a member of the Beaver Valley #570 Order of the Eastern Star and Charity Court #55, Order of the Amaranth. He was also a member of the Antioch Shriners Motor Corps. Services will be held Thursday, 26 August 2004, 9:30AM at Newcomer Farley Funeral Home. Family will receive visitors from 5-8 PM at the funeral home Wedenesday, 25 August. Shotgun will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.
