Alma B. Kern

KERN, Alma B., age 73, of Dayton, from Wise Co., VA, passed away Saturday, August 21, 2010 at her home. She is preceded in death by her parents, James Blaine and Lola Bellamy. Alma is survived by her children, Lisa G. O'Hearn and Kirk L. Kern; daughter-in-law, Jacqueline Kern; grandchildren, Amy O'Hearn Keferl (Dan), Scott R. O'Hearn, Kase D. Kern, and Christina N. Kern; great grandchild, Kyli O'Hearn Jones; niece, Vona W. Sullivan (Mike); great nephew, Michael J. Jones (Sandy); great niece, Teresa I. Fox; close companion, Glen Wireman, as well as countless other family and friends. Alma worked at McCall Printing Company for many years and retired from M & R Electric. After retirement she worked as a caregiver for Comfort Keepers, as a board member and youth mentor for ICU…Inspire, Create, Unite, and a "Band Aide" for Rum River Blend Bluegrass Band. Alma touched the lives of everyone she met and had a tremendous love of family, friends, music, and children. She provided food for our hearts, souls, and stomachs. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Tarek Sabagh and the caring staff of Miami Valley Hospital's Bone Marrow Unit. A Celebration of Alma's life will be held on Thursday, August 26, 2010 at Patterson Homestead, 1815 Brown St., Dayton, OH 45409 from 2:00 – 8:00 pm. In remembrance of Alma's giving spirit, a dish may be brought to share with friends and family.
