Allen LeRoy Rogers, 83, of Fairborn, Ohio, passed away on September 12, 2023. Born on June 24, 1940, in Springfield, OH, son of Jesse and Anna Rogers.
Allen is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Kay Rogers, his daughter Alison (Jason) Cornelli, his granddaughter Meghan (Kayleigh) Clapper-Rogers, his grandson Michael (Amber) Rogers, his granddaughter Jordyn Cornelli and grandson, Andrew Cornelli along with his great-grandsons Elijah and Atlas, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He also leaves behind his furry companions, Woody and Katniss.
Allen was preceded in death by his parents, his brother William Rogers, his sisters Patty Luking, Dottie Thrasher, and Peg Rogers, and his son Christopher Michael Rogers.
Allen attended Northeastern High School and later pursued further education at Clark State Community College. He proudly served in the United States Navy from 1959 to 1963. During his military service, he was stationed along the eastern seaboard and served during the Cuban Missile Crisis.
Following his military service, Allen had a successful career. He worked as an assembler at Steel Products (SPECO) and later as a CAD draftsman at Rittal.
Allen found solace and community at Rona Community Church, where he worshipped for many years.
In his free time, Allen loved to garden, fish, and work with his hands. He was a talented handyman, adept at mending all kinds of things, and enjoyed building projects such as swing sets and treehouses for his grandkids. One of his greatest joys in life was spending time with his grandkids. He attended their many sporting events, concerts, and plays over the years, and especially enjoyed teaching them how to fish.
Allen will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who knew him. His quiet demeanor, willingness to help, and love for his family will be forever remembered and cherished.
A memorial service will be held at the Rona Community Church, 1082 Rona Parkway, Fairborn, Ohio on Friday, September 22, 2023, at 2 PM. Friends may visit at the church from 1:00 pm until the time of the service on Friday afternoon. Private burial in Glen Haven Memorial Gardens will be held at a later date.
