Allen Michael McGaughey, affectionately known as "Mac," was born on August 2, 1946, in McBrayer, Kentucky. He departed this world on January 30, 2025, in Kettering, Ohio, leaving behind a legacy of friendship, service, and dedication.
A proud graduate of Meadowdale High School, Class of 1964, Mac demonstrated an unwavering commitment to his community throughout his life. After graduating high school, he joined the Navy, where he served for four years during the Vietnam War. His military service exemplified his dedication to his country.
Mac embarked on a successful career as a Heavy Equipment Operator with the City of Dayton, from which he eventually retired. He was well-respected for his proficient skills in his trade and contributed significantly to the development of his community.
Mac was a friendly and outgoing individual, renowned for his ability to connect with others; he truly never met a stranger. His vibrant personality and zest for life were matched only by his love for motorcycles and hot rods, passions that brought him joy and adventure throughout his life.
He is survived by his son, Matthew McGaughey; his grandchildren, Ian and Ella; and his brothers, Mearl (Ellen) McGaughey, Doug McGaughey, Rob (Karen) McGaughey, and Mark (Dee) McGaughey. His legacy will live on in the hearts of his family and friends who will remember him.
Mac was preceded in death by his parents, Herbert McGaughey, Jr. and Myrtle McGaughey, his daughter, Kelly McGaughey, and his nephew, Jonathan McGaughey.
Services to honor Mac's life will include a Visitation on Sunday, February 9, 2025, from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM, followed by a Funeral Service beginning at 3:00 PM, both held at Newcomer Funeral Home, 3380 Dayton-Xenia Rd., Beavercreek, Ohio. A Graveside Service will take place on Monday, February 10, 2025, at Dayton National Cemetery, 4400 W. Third St., Dayton, OH 45428, commencing at 10:00 AM.
