Vandalia

In loving memory of Allen Channell, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend, who departed this world peacefully on June 16, 2024, in Troy, Ohio. Born on September 26, 1942, in Jackson, Ohio, Allen's remarkable journey touched the lives of many with his contagious and unwavering positivity.

Allen attended Fairborn High School and earned his GED, which he was very proud of. His legacy is woven with dedication and service. He was a proud veteran of the U.S. Navy. He began his career in 1962 with Inland Manufacturing / General Motors, spanning several decades until his well-deserved retirement in 1998. His commitment to community extended further as he found joy working for the Parks and Recs Department at the City of Vandalia for 10 years. Allen was a member of Ashcraft First Church of God since 1973 and was a Sunday school teacher there for many years. He was a Boy Scout Leader with Troop 307 Vandalia.

Beyond his professional endeavors, Allen found solace in simple joys - coaching his children's sports teams and sharing memorable moments with them and he loved going to his grandchildren’s events

An individual known for his ornery yet endearing personality, Allen was a beacon of light for all who knew him. His mischievous charm and constant smile illuminated every room he entered. He approached life's challenges with unwavering courage and refused to succumb to negativity. Allen's resilience in the face of illness serves as an inspiration to all who had the privilege of crossing paths with him.

In his leisure time, Allen found peace in the great outdoors through camping and hunting adventures. His love for nature mirrored his free spirit and adventurous outlook on life.

Allen leaves behind a beloved family who will forever cherish his memory. He is survived by his devoted wife of almost 61 years, Carol Channell; loving children: Chris (Paul) Klimkowski, Melinda (Don) Wagner, and Jeff (Alicia) Channell; cherished grandchildren: Angela (Nick) Randall, Taylor Krumm (Ryan DeWine), Nicole Klimkowski, Jake Channell, Megan Violet-Channell, Jason Channell, Jalyn Channell, and Bentley Channell; adored great-grandchildren: Macie DeWine, Brody Randall, Mason Randall, Liam DeWine; caring sister Karen Cook; as well as other relatives, church family, and friends.

Not to be forgotten is Allen's faithful companion Lizzy - his beloved dog who brought him immense joy and comfort throughout the years.

Allen was preceded in death by his father, Kenneth Channell, mother Olive Griffin; step-father, Jesse Griffin, brother-in-law, Bob Cowen, and cousin, Wayne Sharpe.
