Alleen Odessa Mccoy

With heavy hearts, we share the passing of our beloved mother, Alleen Odessa McFarlane McCoy, 78, of Dayton, Ohio, who peacefully departed on February 4, 2024, at Laurelwood Assisted Living of Centerville.

She came into this world on August 25, 1945, in Brooklyn, New York, to the late Henry and Evelyn McFarlane. Alleen, a graduate of Wilberforce University and Wright State University, dedicated her life to education. She served diligently in the Dayton Public School system until her retirement. She spent much of her time at Cleveland Elementary School, where she lovingly taught second grade. Her commitment extended beyond the classroom as she was a member of Tabernacle Baptist Church and Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc.

Left to cherish her memory are her adoring children, LaShelle (Philip) Spencer and William (Donna) McCoy II; her pride and joy, grandson William Henry McCoy III; sister, Carol Heggie-Hall; and niece, Aletha Heggie.

Visitation will be held Friday, February 23, 2024 from 12pm to 1pm with a memorial service to honor her life beginning at 1pm all at Newcomer Funeral Home - North Chapel, 4104 Needmore Rd. Dayton, OH 45424. Burial to follow at Cherry Grove Cemetery.
