Alicia Zerby (Strouse, Tyler), 53, of New Carlisle, passed away unexpectedly at the Christ Hospital in Cincinnati on Wednesday, September 20, 2023. She was born on March 6, 1970, at Wright Patterson Air Force Base in Fairborn, Ohio to Karin and Clyde Strouse. Alicia was the youngest of 4 sisters and grew up in the Medway area.
She was preceded in death by her father; Clyde Strouse and her spouses; Todd Tyler and Tyrone Zerby.
She is survived by her mother, Karin Strouse; her sisters, Susan Stacel (Strouse), Jean Merril (Strouse), and Tina Strouse; her children, Meagan Caplinger (Ashley) and Donald Tyler; her grandson, Declan Caplinger and many extended family members and friends.
She was a member of the Tecumseh High School Class of 1988 before attending Southwestern College of Business. In 2010 she graduated from Clark State Community College with a degree in Applied Sciences and pursued a career as a physical therapist assistant, an occupation that suited her compassionate heart and desire to help others with inspiring courage and strength, she overcame significant challenges in life, including her battle with breast cancer at the age of 40. Despite each hardship, she continued to be a generous, loving and supportive foundation for her family, friends, and acquaintances. She opened her heart and became a safe space for those around her without hesitation, and she will be deeply missed.
A visitation will be held Monday, October 9th from 3pm - 5pm with a Celebration of Life beginning at 5pm, all at Newcomer Funeral home - North Dayton Chapel, 4104 Needmore Rd. Dayton, Ohio 45424.
